Garb assistance needed!

Okay. I got sick of not having any of my own Faire clothes to wear, except for faerie stuff, so I'm making my own, sans bodice. I'm okay with the skirts, and the wrap pants I've got pretty much figured out, but I need help on the chemise. I've already bought the fabric, but I don't want the typical baggy, flowy sleeves everywhere look; I'm going more for a slimmer, tunic-style blouse with narrower, more-fitted sleeves, something loose enough to pull on over my head, but not so bulky. Also, I really hate the drawstring neckline, so I was just going to have a low scoop. Problem is, I've never made a chemise beforea and really don't want to screw it up. So what do I do? I have a basic block pattern that I can customize for myself, so the body part isn't hard, but I've never done sleeves before, and I'm not sure if I should double the fabric so it's not quite as thin. Help please?
