Again with the no sleeping. Went to bed at 11:30--lights out--and laid there. Got up at 2 to make some Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea, then tried again at 2:30. No such luck. FINALLY dropped off around 3:30 or 4--you know, 5 hours AFTER I had gone to bed.
Up at 7:30 to catch the bus to my doctor's appointment; I had another exam at the orthopedic surgeon's through work this time. Since I was riding the bus, I wasn't sure how long it would take, so I wanted to have plenty of time to get there. Got to the stop just in time to catch the link (it was actually a little early) and settled in for the ride to downtown Orlando.
Got to the Central Station much quicker than I expected--it only took about an hour instead of two--waited for a bit, then hopped on the connecting link to the hospital. Funny thing is, when I charted the route online last night, it told me to take a link that dropped me off about four blocks from the hospital, instead of the one that had a stop right in front. Peculiar and a bit aggravating, but nothing serious. Got to the office a little after 11. Of course, my appointment wasn't until 2. "Oops." But the receptionist was very nice, and she went and asked if they could see me earlier, since I was there. And they did, hooray!
Good news! The only restrictions I have are that I have to stay in the fracture boot for at least another 3 weeks. The PA checked my x-rays, looked at my foot, checked my calf circumference and range of motion, and made sure that I could stand on tiptoe without too much pain. You know how I'm always saying I've got stupid ballerina feet? Well, it's true. When she checked my point flexibility, I had an 85-90 degree rotation. That means I can point my feet straight down. She was rather impressed, if I do say so myself. *grin* Now, I just have to go back to Health Services, give them my new restrictions sheet, and head over to the Character Zoo to be put on modified duty. The PA also said I could drive, though she told me to practice in an empty parking lot first, and brake with my left foot if I could. We'll see; I still have to clear my car of ants first. Icky.
Done in less than an hour, and heading back home, again with the slight delays that traveling by bus always entails. Got home around 3:30, tried to read, but a massive headache appeared, so I took a nap for a couple hours. Ate dinner, and read, with lovely mint tea. I've been on a tea kick lately.
We got a note in the mail saying that the apartment complex will be spraying tomorrow for insects, so I've got to be out of the house. Works for me, I was planning on going to Health Services anyway, maybe just a little earlier than planned. Only THIS time, I'm just going to go to the Magic Kingdom FIRST, since I know the bus actually STOPS there. *grunt; stupid bus system* I could drive, I suppose, but NOT with ants all over my car. *shudder*
My grandmother just called; she suffers from dementia, and sometimes is a little difficult to understand, but I try to talk to her every week. She said she just wanted to call and see how I was doing and that she loves me and misses me. My grandpa says she was trying to write me a letter, but she never did get it finished. That's okay; I know she gets frustrated when she can't make herself do what she wants to do, but it's the thought that counts.
I'm going to read some more and drink some tea, and hopefully get sleepy enough to actually GO to sleep. And if not...well. I will be most disgruntled.
